Overview of the Britannia Project Phase 2B
The Britannia Project (Phase 2B) marks the final chapter in LB Hackney’s comprehensive regeneration of the former Britannia Leisure Centre. As the main contractor, we are spearheading the design and construction of 371 new mixed-tenure residential units, which will be housed within four modern buildings towering up to 25 storeys. This initiative not only redefines urban space but also accommodates diverse community needs.
Affordable Homes and Community Development
A key aspect of this regeneration scheme is its commitment to affordability. Out of the 371 new homes, 81 are designated for social rent and shared ownership, ensuring access for various demographics. The project also contributes to the local infrastructure by incorporating a new leisure centre and a secondary school with a capacity for 1,100 pupilsāfacilitating a vibrant community environment.
Innovative Piling Techniques and Environmental Considerations
Our approach to the project includes innovative engineering solutions. We have implemented over 200 cfa piles, each reaching 35 metres deep, a significant advancement from the originally planned rotary bored piles. By collaborating with a specialist piling team, we have achieved some of the deepest cfa piles in the UK. This technique not only enhances viability for Hackney but also minimizes noise pollution and vibrations, ensuring minimal disruption to the neighboring areas during construction.
